Anne Gretsch was named the 2019 GCWA CattleWoman of the Year.

Anne has served Georgia’s Beef Industry for more than 20 years. She is an alumna of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. Anne works with her husband, Fred, managing Gretsch Brothers Angus in Lexington, GA where they run Angus Cattle. Anne and Fred are now proud owners of G Brand BBQ in Crawford, GA.

Anne has served on the Georgia CattleWomen board for a year; prior to that she served as secretary for two years. Anne has attended numerous Summer Conferences and you can count on her to clerk for the annual cattle sales during Convention and Beef Expo. Anne is no stranger to the Angus cattle industry. While serving on the GCWA board, Anne was extremely helpful with the Cattle Drive for Hunger and served on the Scholarship committee. Anne contributed her time and knowledge into the applications process and we were able to award a GCWA scholarship to a very worthy junior member.

Anne is very instrumental in their farm’s annual production sale. She does it all from videotaping cattle to taking calls to preparing the food for the crowd and she even clerks the day of the sale. Anne and Fred have hosted many farm tours, welcoming visitors on the farm to talk about Angus cattle. Anne takes pride in her duties on the farm. If you ever have seen their Facebook posts, we know who does the work as it is well documented by her husband. Although he states it is wife in training videos, it is obvious the tables may be turned and it is a husband in training. Anne works hard to make the farm succeed, as everyone does in the family. In a conversation with her, you can quickly tell that she is a producer and loves what she does.

Although we have talked about her accomplishments in the cattle industry, it doesn’t compare to her best accomplishments. Her family! Anne and Fred have been married for 30 years and have 4 children; Will, Zach, Abbey, and Jaden. In the last couple of years they have added two daughters-in-laws: Autumn and Amanda.

While all this is more than enough to make her worthy of CattleWoman of the Year, it is her eagerness to help that makes her irreplaceable. Everyone she meets is treated with kindness and she makes them feel special. Anne Gretsch’s hard work and love for the cattle industry is the reason why we have named her 2019 Georgia CattleWoman of the Year.
