Georgia Junior Beef Futurity

Each July, Georgia 4-H and FFA members bring their cattle to compete in the Georgia Junior National Beef Futurity. Held at the Agricenter in Perry, Georgia, youth look forward to the event as their first major chance of the season to exhibit their animals. In addition to their steer and heifer classes, students compete in showmanship, a class focusing on the showman’s ability to present their animal in the best light possible. The Georgia Cattlewomen’s Association provides annual awards to the showmanship winners. These awards recognize the youth’s daily efforts in the care of their animal, their dedication to improvement, and their involvement in the Georgia cattle industry. From as early as the fourth grade, GCWA wants to encourage these youth’s interest in cattle as they will become future industry leaders. Top 2020 exhibitors received belt buckles for their first-place showmanship wins.
