The purpose of the GCWA Hall of Fame is to recognize a past or current CattleWoman that has made significant contributions to the GCWA, cattle industry and youth programs on the local, state, region and national levels. Nominations should consist of a letter stating why the nominee should receive this honor and when they were most involved. The letter should include their past and present history about positions held and involvement with the Georgia CattleWomen’s Association on the local, state, and national level. Nominations should be submitted to the GCA office by February 1 each year.
Ruth Hice - 2021 Hall of Fame
The 2021 Georgia CattleWomen Hall of Fame recipient has been an active member since the 1980’s. When her children began exhibiting cattle, she became involved in the Red Carpet Association. She has served in numerous officer roles and assisted with assorted beef promotion events, meals at Calhoun Bull Sales and 4-H events with the Red Carpet Chapter. The Hice family became active members of the Brangus Association in 1984.In 1999, Ruth and RM Hice made Barnesville their home and Ruth immediately became involved with the Mid-Georgia CattleWomen. She has served as Vice-President of the Mid-Georgia CattleWomen for many years. Ruth, a strong supporter of beef and the industry, can be found at local steer shows, Beef Days, Buggy Days, fair booth exhibits, fundraisers and other promotional events. She is constantly attending meetings and workshops to stay updated on current cattle information.
Ruth served as the Georgia CattleWomen’s President in 2000, 2001 and 2014. She has served as Vice -President and Secretary of the association as well as on the GCWA board and committees. In 1997 she received the distinct honor of being the Cattlewoman of the Year. Ruth strongly supports the Summer Intern program. She has spent many hours making quilts and selling quilt tickets at the convention to raise funds for this program. The Georgia CattleWomen are proud to induct Ruth Hice into the Georgia Cattlewomen's Hall of Fame. This honor recognizes an individual who has dedicated nearly forty years to the Beef industry and association. Thank you, Ruth, for your dedication, loyalty and leadership.
